Accomodation is something which is the costliest here as there is only one Resort (Ayers Rock Resort) in this place for tourists travelling by air. Camping grounds are available for road travellers. However booking in advance is necessary having said it is one of the Australia’s most iconic landmarks due to its cultural history.

Transport

Booked the cheapest return flight from Sydney to Ayers rock . Booking in well advance could save you some money. Also made rental car reservation for the 4 days .

Imalung Sunset Lookout - Uluru

Day Wise Itinerary

Day 1 : Reached Ayers Rock airport , got the rental car , checked in to the resort , had lunch with a stroll around the resort . Headed to “Imalung Lookout” to capture the view of red rock glowing! - a panaromic view of the monolith during the sunset. With a pitch dark environment, you can choose to stay a bit longer to gaze the band of galaxy in the skies above ,while cool breeze brushing your cheeks.

Day 2

Kata Tjuta National Park

Entry : 38 AUD / person pass for 3 days
Started the day with an early morning sunrise at “Talinguru Nyakunytjaku” - one of the sunrise viewing spot and then drove to Kata Tjuta . The word “Kata Tjuta” means many heads . In here, we did the “Valley of Winds” walk which is a 3-4 hour circuit. Its a moderate circuit and then we did the “Walpa Gorge” walk - 2.6 km trail - you can see a natural creek running through Kata Tjuta’s two tallest domes.

Filed of lights - Uluru

Field of Lights

Entry : 100 AUD star pass / adult
Headed to field of lights - a light installation amidst the field of Uluru. Its a 2 hour experience not more than 15 minutes from the town of Yulara. Tour booking includes the hotel transfers in coach . Once you reach the place you get to enjoy drinks and snacks. Once the sun goes down , you see the lights coming up in the field below. You also have a chance to walk around the field before you head back to the coach.

Kings Canyon

Day 3

Kings Canyon

Started the day with an early morning sunrise from “Sunset Car Park” waking up to a deep purple sky around 4:00 am. This is a sun rise view from the other side of the Ayers Rock after which we started to Kings Canyon - a 3 hour drive . We also had chance to spot camels on our way as well as some bush fires. Its a true outback experience in the red-centre . Kings canyon is a grade 4 walk. After a 4 hour walk, you will have a breath-taking 360 degree panoramic views. Heading back to Yulara to catch the sunset at the “Sunset Car Park”.

Uluru Base Walk

Day 4

Uluru Base Walk

The final sunrise in the red centre was done in “Talinguru Nyakunytjaku” and started with the Uluru base walk - its a 10 km track, starting from Mala car park . On the way you will pass the Mutitjulu waterhole , a sacred and a serene picturesque waterhole. Do not forget to checkout the cultural centre for your memorable soveneigrs and a well deserved icecream.


Things you need to know

  • As there is limited Accomodation options , it is best to book the accomodation prior to the air tickets.

  • With no public transportation , car rental is mandatory to explore various spots around - a well advance booking is highly recommended.

  • There is an IGA shopping complex , couple of restaurants and local shops around the resort which is the only place where you get food for the days planned.

  • Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park closes at night for visitors and must leave before closing time. Please check here for park timings.

  • For the hiking, ensure to take enough water to stay hydrated , wear sun protection and also highly recommended to ensure to complete the walk in the early morning hours when its cooler to save yourself from sun stroke and finish before 11:00 am.

  • Fly nets are life saving during the walks.

  • Field of lights experience booking can be purchased when you book the accomodation in the Ayers Rock Resort website.
